Grand Valley Canyons

August Update

August 7, 2013
Hope everybody is enjoying your summer. COPMOBA-Grand Valley Canyons Chapter has had a busy summer building on the Grand Mesa. We have finally completed the Mesa Top Trail to the GreenWood Rd with just over 4 miles completed and now only have about 2.5 miles to connect to the Flowing Park Trailhead. If anybody has GPS'ed the whole trail please let me know of exact distance completed.

On July 13th/14th Work weekend sponsored by SingleTrack Sister we had 40 people building trail on Saturday and 15 on Sunday 7/14 for a total of 266 volunteer hours worked.
We completed about 1/2 mile of singletrack trail through Aspen Stands and open Meadows with another amazing view point. Also a big thank you to Boy Scout Troop 318 who came out on both Saturday and Sunday to help build trail.
On July 20th/21st weekend sponsored by Endoholics Quick read more or view full article we had 21 volunteers on Saturday and had 14 people on Sunday for a total of 182 volunteers hours worked. We completed just over a 1/4 mile through black timber and a very gnarly Rock Garden.
Great work by everybody over these two work weekends for a total of 448 hours. Very impressive. Hope everybody enjoyed as much as I did. Thanks again to the cooks and all the cool swag. REI, Mountain Khakis, Bicycle Outfitters, Community Hospital were just a few of the swag sponsors. Some Beer was provided by Copper Club Brewery and Suds Brother Brewery.

We are still planning on a work weekend on August 17th/18th sponsored by Antonelli's Automotive and on September 20th/21st, sponsored by Colorado Chiropractic & Muscle Care.
Details included in this newsletter!.
Lets keep up the great work and keep building trail for all of us to enjoy.
