September Update

September 9, 2013

WOW!!!  What a busy August full of Bike rides, Bike Races and Trail Building.
Another successful weekend building trail on Grand Mesa with another ½ mile completed. Thanks to Antonelli Automotive for Sponsoring the August 17th/18th trail work.  Also HUGE THANKS to Doug Killerud and family for the awesome feast.  Also had great swag by REI, Bicycle Outfitters and the one of a kind pint glass provided by Dan Antonelli.
Mesa Top trail is now 6 miles of single track that winds along the rim of the Grand Mesa overlooking Delta County and is now connected to the Flowing Park road via an old two track road that sometimes is very easy to follow, but as it approaches the FP Rd it becomes very hard to follow.

There were some flags placed to mark a decent route down the hill, but the cows do like to eat Quick read more or view full article the flags.  So be warned that it maybe difficult to find a good connection to the FB Rd.  Understand the goal is to have a single track connected to the Flowing Park Trailhead, and we are still about 2 miles away for total completion.
COPMOBA is having another work weekend on September 21st and 22nd.  This event is sponsored by Bryce Christianson with Colorado Chiropractic & Muscle Care,   We will be building along the rim in a wooded area, so lots of debris removal.  Go to to sign up.  Let us know if you are going to be camping as well.
COPMOBA had a booth in Downtown Grand Junction during the EPIC Rides Series, the Grand Junction Off Road Inaugural Mtn. Bike Race.  This was a great opportunity for Grand Junction to show off our trails and the passion this area has for mountain biking.  Thanks to Jen Sliney, David and Sarah Withers, Jodie and Jenn Winkler, Jeffery Fleming, Chris Muhr, Jen Taylor, Dan Antonelli, Kris Cox and the Denis Grisak family for manning the booth all weekend.

Thanks to all the crews that got out and did trail maintenance in the days prior to the race.
If you have any comments or would like to offer your facility for a meeting you can contact Kris Cox at or go the COPMOBA website comment section.
